Abstract:
Aimed at the traffic bottleneck of expressway tunnel, the microscopic traffic phenomena of vehicles running in the expressway tunnel section, such as lane changing, accelerating and decelerating were studied, through analyzing the environmental characteristics of the tunnel. A cellular automaton traffic flow model for expressway tunnel considering vehicle speed control and lane control was put forward based on the STCA model, and the influences of expressway tunnels with different lengths on traffic flow were analyzed. The results show that the proposed model can simulate spatiotemporal patterns of the vehicles in expressway tunnel area, and the traffic bottleneck of freeway tunnel can provide a buffering effect to the downstream adjacent to the bottleneck within a certain length, and the maximum flow of tunnel section and average velocity of vehicles will decrease with the increase of tunnel length, compared with no-tunnel sections. 4 figs, 9 refs.
