Abstract:
To study the influence of the wheel-path lateral distribution on the fatigue life of the asphalt pavement, some dynamic strain sensors were buried at the bottom of the AC layer during construction, and the lateral distribution of the dynamic response of the semi-rigid base asphalt pavement was studied. Comprehensively considering the influences of the wheel-path lateral distribution and the dynamic response lateral distribution, the correcting factor of fatigue life of the asphalt pavement was got. The results show that the lateral distribution of the maximum longitudinal tensile strain at the bottom of the asphalt layer shows M shape under moving wheel load, and only the destruction of the position which located within 40 cm away from the center of the double tire is need to be considered when the fatigue life of the asphalt pavement is evaluated. The lateral distribution of the lateral strain at the bottom of the asphalt layer is quite complex, and only the destruction of the position which located under the double tires is need to be considered when the fatigue life of the asphalt pavement is evaluated. The fatigue life correcting factor of the test road is 0.16, which can be referred to the semi-rigid asphalt pavement design and fatigue life evaluation. 7 figs, 8 refs.
