Abstract:
Based on results of rutting test, this paper evaluates the high temperature stability of Open-graded Large Stone Asphalt Mixes(OLSM), and analyzes the effects of gradation, asphalt content and specimen thickness on the high temperature stability. Research shows that: with the coarse aggregate, porosity, asphalt content and specimen thickness increasing, the rutting resistance of OLSM decreases; when its porosity is smaller than 20% and the asphalt content is no more than +0.5% of the optimum asphalt content, the high temperature stability of OLSM is excellent. Further analysis shows that the rutting displacement is formed from its further contraction mainly. 6 tabs, 3 figs, 9 refs.
