Abstract:
In order to investigate the shear behavior of shear stud connectors in steelconcrete composite beams under combined tension and shear force, five groups of specimens in high strength concrete were prepared and tested, including pullout tests, pushout tests and pushout tests subjected to tension force. The loadslip curves were obtained, and the failure modes and shear behavior of shear stud connectors under different loading conditions were presented and compared. According to experimental results, the loadslip relationships in elastic stage and plastic development stage under tension were derived, then a trilinear analytical model of loadslip curve under combined loading was established. Formulas for calculating the tension and shear capacity of shear studs in different codes were analyzed and evaluated based on test data from this paper and other researches, and an improved interaction expression for calculating the capacities under combined loading was proposed. The results show that the ultimate shear strength decreases significantly with the increase of tension under combined loading. The maximum reduction of shear strength is about 31% when the applied tension force equals 0.6 of the ultimate tensile strength. Tension force also lead to decrease of elastic shear stiffness, but has no obvious affection on the sliding performance. The proposed interaction expression agrees well with the test results. The established trilinear analytical model provides safe and accurate prediction on the development of loadslip curves of shear stud connectors under combined loading, and is capable of reflecting reduction of shear stiffness and shear strength caused by tension force. 6 tabs, 10 figs, 28 refs.
