Abstract:
To address the issue that China's current specifications only qualitatively stipulate that the selection of mainline divergence modes within expressway interchanges(referred to as interchanges)should be based on main and secondary traffic flows, no clear traffic volume or divergence ratio is specified for different diverging modes. This leads to high randomness in designers' selections. Based on UAV aerial photography and YOLOv8 target detection technology, the traffic flow data in the mainline divergence area of expressway inter-changes were collected, and key traffic flow simulation parameters(such as vehicle operating speed, headway, and lane-changing trajectory)in the mainline divergence area were analyzed, followed by the establishment of a simulation model for the three-lane one-way mainline divergence area. Based on the modified hyperbolic tangent microscopic lane-changing model, the minimum lane-changing length for vehicles in the three-lane one-way mainline divergence area was proposed, and the lane-changing parameters of the simulation model were adjusted accordingly. The accuracy of the model was verified by the GEH method. Delay time and conflict rate were taken as evaluation indicators for capacity and safety, the control variable method was adopted to analyze the impacts and variation laws of pre-divergence mainline traffic volume, mainline design speed, and left-lane divergence ratio on the simulation results of delay time and conflict rate. Finally, the traffic conditions applicable to the three-lane one-way mainline divergence modes were proposed based on critical traffic volume and critical divergence ratio. The research results show that the applicability of three-lane one-way mainline divergence modes is closely related to pre-divergence mainline traffic volume and mainline design speed. The two mainline divergence modes(direct left-lane divergence and indirect right-lane divergence)exhibit different advantages with change in divergence ratio, but their optimization effect on the traffic efficiency of mainline divergence area is limited. In design, main and secondary traffic flows cannot be simply taken as the basis for selecting three-lane one-way mainline divergence modes, the divergence ratio should be comprehensively considered, and priority should be given to the impact of traffic volume on applicability.22 tabs, 16 figs, 35 refs.
