Abstract:
Amied at that for a long time, the positive effect of self-healing properties in the life estimation of asphalt mixture has been ignored and the service life to a certain extent has been underestimated, so its fatigue self-healing ability was considered. The existing research results from four dimensions, the healing mechanism, the influencing factors of fatigue healing, the fatigue healing index and the fatigue life calculation method that considering the healing was summarized. The principle of healing was explained from the micro-scale. Five major fatigue-healing indicators from the macro-scale and factors affecting fatigue-healing were listed, and the commonly used fatigue-healing tests were summarized. Viscoelastic continuum damage mechanics was an ideal method to study the fatigue performance of asphalt mixtures. Therefore, two methods based on viscoelastic continuum damage mechanics framework for fatigue life estimation considering healing were introduced, which laid the foundation for quantitative fatigue life estimation considering healing. The results show that most researches stay on the qualitative analysis of the healing effect and lacks the quantitative analysis. The current healing is mainly adopts the block rest loading mode, which can saves time, but is inconsistent with the actual traffic loading mode of actual road loading. Therefore, in the future it is also necessary to establish the connection between the test and actual road loading should be established in the future loading modes. In addition, the focus of future research will be shifting from the fatigue healing prediction of laboratory materials to the fatigue healing prediction of pavement.2 tabs, 14 figs, 52 refs.
