Abstract:
The performance of concrete bridge slabs had been degenerating under the action of increasing traffic and overloading, and it was also difficult to replace the deteriorated bridge elements for the stud connectors in concrete slab. A new throughbolt shear connector with prefabricated concrete slab was explored. To investigate the fatigue performance of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete (HFRC) bolt connectors under fatigue load, four test specimens were designed and tested. Then the standard finite element model was set up considering the constitution relationship of HFRC and the influence of the bolthole clearance and conducted analysis by software FESAFE. The results were validated by the test results. Combined with finite element software ABAQUS and fatigue analysis software FESAFE, the effects of parameters (bolt diameter, concrete strength and fiber) on the fatigue life of bolt connectors were studied. A method calculating the fatigue life of the HFRC bolt connectors was proposed. The results show that the bearing capacity, initial stiffness and fatigue life of the bolt connectors increased after the fibers is incorporated. The failure mode is the bolts are sheared off under static load. As to the failure mode of fatigue test, the bolts are sheared off on one side for the HFRC specimen, and the concrete slabs are broken for the NC specimen. The calculation results of FESAFE find when the bolt diameter and concrete strength increase, the fibers are incorporated and the fatigue life of bolt connectors increase. Finally, a nonlinear regression is performed on the data obtained from the FESAFE software. It provide a reference for the future design of the HFRC bolt connectors. 8 tabs, 10 figs, 30 refs.
