Abstract:
Achieving the accurate bearing capacity of foundations has become quite significant in order to guarantee the safety of buildings. With the elasticity theory and the finite difference method, the qualitative and quantitative analyses of the effect of heaped load on bearing capacity of foundations in the heaped load method for shallow plate load test had been performed. The results show that when using the heaped load method to get the bearing capacity of foundations, the additional stress caused by heaped load would gradually decrease and disappear finally in the test with the progress of plate load test; both the preloading on the surrounding soil and the displacement of datum point will make the characteristic value of foundation bearing capacity, which is obtained from the load-displacement curve, become overestimated; so the bearing capacity of foundations got from piling-up weights method of shallow plate load test is actually larger than its real value. 4 tabs, 13 figs, 17 refs.
