Abstract:
In order to determine the control standard of highway subgrade differential settlement reasonably, finite element method was used to compute the additional stress in pavement structure in the differential settlements. The results were compared with ultimate tensile strength of pavement structure layers,and the calculation formulas of the change rate of allowable differential settlement which would prevent pavement damage were presented. Based on the hydraulic and hydrological knowledge, the model of highway surface integrated drainage was established,and the calculation formulas of the change rate of allowable differential settlement which guaranteed drainage were also presented. Considering the effect of differential settlement on driving comfort, the response sensitivity of human body with vehicle vertical vibration was analyzed and the relationship between International Roughness Index(IRI)and longitudinal differential settlement was established. Finally, the standard of highway subgrade differential settlement was proposed and a case study was presented in this paper. The results show that considering the effect of differential settlement on driving comfort, the change rate 0.1% of differential settlement is taken as the control standard of differential settlement; considering pavement damage and drainage, the change rate of differential settlement is suggested to be determined based on the reasonable specific design parameters. 2 tabs, 4 figs, 14 refs.
