Abstract:
In order to solve the engineer application problems of the plate-like saline soil of Hongshankou—Shanshan freeway in Xinjiang, this paper studies the road performance of the plate-like saline soil, based on the permeability test, unconfined compression strength test, CBR test and bearing test. The result shows that the value of plate-like saline soil's natural strength ranges widely from 2.8 to 28.6 Pa, conditioned by the uneven distribution of salinity, different grad-ation and size effects of soil sample and other factors. The CBR value is 120% and much greater than the one of non-plate-like saline soil, which is 28.6% and much less than the design deflection. This data indicates that the plate-like saline soil can be used as the subgrade if the immersion of water can be control properly. Permeability tests' results give the salt-in depth are 80 cm and 50 m respectively about coarse-grained soil and fine-grained soil, combined with the surrounding environment in Xinjiang weather conditions and rain capacity along with Hongshankou—Shanshan freeway. 7 tabs, 7 figs, 9 refs.
