Abstract:
To study the mechanical behavior of FRP-confined concrete column, this paper takes the confinement effect coefficient as main parameter, the effect of shape coefficient of concrete section, the gravity ratio of FRP in FRP tube, and the reduced coefficient of confinement effect on the ultimate compressive strength of FRP-confined concrete column were carefully considered, and then the unified strength model of FRP-confined concrete column is established. The results show that the ultimate compressive strength of FRP-confined concrete column is mainly related to confinement effect coefficient, the compressive strength, shape coefficient of concrete section and the type of FRP. The model may be applicable to calculate the ultimate compressive strength of FRP-confined circular concrete column, FRP-confined rectangular concrete column or FRP-confined elliptic concrete column. The calculating values of the model can agree well with the experimental results. 2 tabs, 4 figs, 17 refs.
