Abstract:
To solve the problem of the overshoot of acceleration by traditional model, this paperpresents a model with variable desirable distance for vehicle following, which considering the limitation of the velocity and the acceleration of the car. The results show that: as the maximum of acceleration is taken to 4 m/s2, the flow-density diagram is consisted of free flow in the linear zone and synchronized flow in the nonlinear zone; when the maximum of acceleration equals to 5 m/s2, the flow-density diagram can be divided into 3 parts, which are free flow in the linear part, synchronized flow in the nonlinear part and wider jam flow; so it can concluded that the traffic phase transform from two phases to three phases with the maximum acceleration become large, and that the bigger the value of maximum acceleration, the wider is the area of the synchronized flow in the diagram, and the worse is the stability of the flow; compared with Bando model and multiphase model, the proposed model can really keep the feature of the traffic flow. 3 figs, 9 refs.
