Abstract:
In order to realize composition character of high modulus asphalt concrete (HMAC), the material composition design method of HMAC in France was analyzed, special adjustments about grade type, molding method, determination of the optimum asphalt content, certification tests of Marshall design method were conducted and were verified with Marshall test, rutting test, moisture damage test and modulus test. Results show that the adjusted method is suitable for mixture ratio design of the HMAC which is produced by adding additives into conventional asphalt mixes, the performance of the high modulus mixtures can meet the requirements of the Specification Technical Standard for Highway Asphalt Pavement Construction of China; it is also proposed that the modulus test should be taken as the certification test for HMAC. 9 tabs, 5 figs, 6 refs.
