Abstract:
Aims to deeply delve the classificationand composition of epoxy resins and their various applications in road engineering, firstly, theclassification and composition of epoxy resins were outlined, and the types ofcommonly used curing agents along with their advantages and disadvantages were summarized. Anew type of glassy polymer-type epoxy resin material was introduced, unlike traditional epoxyresins, the unique dynamic covalent bonds of glassy polymer-type epoxy resins conferred thepossibility of their regeneration and reuse, further enhancing the application potential of epoxyresins in road engineering. Subsequently, the ring-opening mechanism,polymerization mechanism, and network formation theory of epoxy resins were pointed out, and scientificguidance for the actual composite processes of epoxy resins was provided. Then, the structure, properties,and classification of epoxy asphalt were outlined, and the main modification methodsof epoxy asphalt by scholars at home and abroad were discussed, themain issues in the compatibility, flexibility, and retention time of epoxy asphalt were explored and the existing improvement technologies and methods was summarized. Furthermore, the engineering application examples and research status of epoxy resin in bridge engineering, tunnelengineering, and pavement engineering were reviewed. By elucidating the different application methods andscenarios of epoxy resin in road engineering, the wide application possibilities and application value of it in the field of road engineering were showcased. The results show thatepoxy resin has demonstrated excellent performance and great application potential in roadengineering. With regard to the renewability and reparability of glassy epoxy resins, futureresearch should focus more on these areas to promote the continuous development and innovativeapplication of epoxy resin materials, providing a significant theoretical and practical foundationfor the innovation and application of road engineering materials.8 tabs, 7 figs, 96 refs.
