- Abstract:
- With the rapid development of society, buildings are upgraded constantly. Therefore, it is desired in engineering practice that the concretefilled steel tube (CFST) structures with higher bearing capacity, stiffness, and ductility. A singlelayer steel tube or multilayer steel tubes were placed in the CFST column concentrically to form a novel CFST structure, which was defined as the concretefilled doubleskin steel tube (CFDST) structures. A large number of experimental results show that the CFDST structures possess better mechanical properties. The research status of the CFDST structures was summarized from three aspects of the CFDST column, the CFDST beamcolumn joint and the prefabricated CFDST structure system. The results of experiments and finite element analysis about different CFDST structures indicate that the CFDST structures with the crosssections of the inner circle and outer circle, the inner circle and outer square, and the inner square and outer square own superior properties respectively. Furthermore, the hollow ratio, the strength of concrete, the strength and thickness of steel tube, and the diameter ratio between inner steel tube and outer steel tube and so on are main parameters that affect the performance of the CFDST structures. Moreover, the CFDST structures possess reliable properties of mechanics when the stainless steel tube, the corrugated steel tube, the recycled concrete, and the rubberized concrete are adopted in it. The application of novel composite concrete can satisfy the requirements of environmental protection and achieve sustainable development of buildings. With the promulgation of relevant policies and the continuous change of building demands in development of society, the research about the CFDST structures will focus on the diversification of structures, the sustainable development, the fire resistance of structures, and the fabricated structures. To obtain more and more CFDST structures with better mechanical properties and easy application in engineering practice is the ultimate goal. 19 figs, 64 refs.
