Abstract:
In order to evaluate the compaction effect accurately, the pavement density was detected with non-nuclear density gauge to analyze the effective range of different types of road roller. Based on analyzing the rationality of current compaction effect index and the effective compaction principle, the compaction index was put forward to evaluate the pavement compaction effect. In addition, the immersion Hamburg wheel-tracking tests was done to verify the correlativity of the evaluation index and high temperature stability. The results show that the compaction index is better to evaluate the compaction quality of the asphalt pavement compared with the air voids. The compaction index have a good correlation with the rutting depth and creep rate, it can be used to evaluate the rutting performance. 2 tabs, 13 figs, 11 refs.
