Abstract:
Based on fractal geometry theory, the fractal cumulative distribution function of granular system was deduced, it was pointed out that the fractal dimension could be taken as a parameter of particle distribution characteristics. Mastersizer 2000 Laser Particle Size Analyzer was used to test the particle size of silt, and the testing data was analyzed further. The study indicated that: the positive relationship in double logarithmic coordinates between the particle size of silt and its cumulative pass rate is existed, so the grainsize distribution of silt is statistical selfsimilarity, and fractal dimension can be used as a parameter for the particle distribution characteristics of silt; the parameter can effectively reflect the uniformity of particle size distribution; when the silt meet the fractal characteristic, it just need to know more than two different cumulative pass rates of particle size, the fractal dimension can be calculated out and the particle size distribution curve can be drawn. 3 tabs, 5 figs, 13 refs.
