Abstract:
Aimed at the lack of quantitative method in road ecological effects assessment, the new assessment system and methods are proposed based on RS and GIS. This systematic method is illustrated with real examples of Shandan—Linze and Lanzhou—Haishiwan expressway to prove its scientificity and accuracy. The results showed that: the process of road construction increased the landscape fragmentation and decreases its contagion which effect animal migration; the condition of vegetation along the road is also negatively effected and more serious in the later period; the impact of road construction in the small scale can be reduced and eliminated by efficient ecological management. 2 tabs, 6 figs, 24 refs.
