Abstract:
In order to improve the application of the capacity spectrum method in antiseismic of bridges, this paper calculated and compared the response of the bridge in the earthquake of different intensities based on the principle of the capacity spectrum method. Through comparing the result of the capacity spectrum method and timehistory method based on a continuous rigid frame bridge with four spans and an irregular great bridge, it is found that the capacity spectrum method as one of the elastoplastic analysis methods is useful and rational in evaluating the antiseismic character of bridges which is mainly effected by the basic mode and seldom effected by higher mode, while the timehistory method is much more appropriate for the longspan and irregular bridge. 4 tabs, 9 figs, 11 refs.
