Abstract:
In order to solve the problem existed in the Marshall method to determine the fiber content in the mixture, this paper puts forward a new index, strain energy to find optimum content of fiber through bending test at low temperature. The experiment results show that there is a close corresponding relationship between the stain energy and fiber content. The new method can seek the optimum content of fiber in the mixture accurately. Under this content, the asphalt mixture expresses higher bending strength and higher strain at low temperature, and the corresponding modulus of stiffness shows an appropriate state. 1 tab, 6 figs, 8 refs.
